Our Recent Recommendation by Expedia

Alton Towers

Colton House

Located in the privacy of a grand estate in the rolling English countryside, when you stay at Colton House you are both far enough away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and close enough to activities to keep you amused on your trip. In fact Colton House was delighted to be included as a featured hotel in an article by Expedia on some of the world most unique theme parks and the best places to stay to enjoy them.

In the article entitled http://blog.expedia.com.au/worlds-most-unique-theme-parks/, we were nominated for our relative proximity to the adventurous Alton Towers, not to mention the luxurious stay we offered our guests.
‘This impressive English manor house will transport you back in time with antique four-poster beds, claw bath tubs and exposed timber beams. After a long day outdoors, the floor heating and fluffy bathrobes keep you cosy and warm.’

Inspired by the feature from the travel experts, we thought we would offer a few more recommendations for things to do nearby, if you can drag yourself away from your charming and comfortable room that is!

Go Ape Cannock Chase
See the spectacular scenery of Staffordshire in a different light from the tree tops with this fun forest adventure park. Kids young and older, will love the different activities, including high wires, crossings and zip wires. Apart from these adrenaline fuelled activities, there’s also mountain biking and a large playground.

Museum of Cannock Chase
Travel back in time to days when young men began their working lives training to go down into the black coal pits of the Valley Colliery. This free museum is an eye-opening and educational experience that the whole family will enjoy. They also offer activities the year round and the site is home to some wonderful walks on the Hednesford Hills and over Cannock Chase.

Alton Towers
‘Adrenaline junkies rejoice!’ Exclaims Expedia. ‘Hidden in the thick forests of Staffordshire, Alton Towers’ exhilarating roller coasters make it a must for all the big kids out there.’ But there’s also plenty for the littlies to enjoy too with the tame fun rides at CBeebies Land and the low ropes course.

After an action packed day you’ll be glad to return to your comfortable bed and beautifully furnished room in the peaceful grounds of Colton House. Let us know before you arrive if you would like a delicious evening meal and we will pick seasonal vegetables on the day and can even serve dinner in your room for total relaxation.
