Colton House has been awarded Gold in the Best B&B/Guest Accommodation and a Highly Commended in the Best Sustainable Tourism Organisation category at the prestigious VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2015 Ceremony.

Colton House, near Rugeley announced today, that they have won a national award from VisitEngland, as Best B&B in the country! The luxury B&B located on the edge of Cannock Chase was declared the winner of the Best B&B category in an impressive award ceremony at The Sage Centre in Gateshead.

The VisitEngland Awards for Excellence are the most prestigious awards in English tourism and this year attracted a staggering 345 applications. The Awards recognise businesses that incorporate best practice and demonstrate excellence in customer service throughout their operation and celebrate the very best in quality and innovation.

Commenting on the Award James Berresford, VisitEngland’s Chief Executive said “We received hundreds of applications of an exceptionally high quality making the competition for a Gold Award extremely tough.  It is therefore a tremendous achievement for Colton House to win a Gold Award, the highest accolade for Excellence in Tourism which VisitEngland can bestow.  They have raised the bar for excellence for others to aspire to and I warmly congratulate them on their exemplary contribution to tourism in this country.” 

Commenting on the Sustainability Award James Berresford, VisitEngland’s Chief Executive said “It is a great achievement to win a Highly Commended Award in a field of very high quality applications. The Award places Colton House in the top five businesses for excellence in their category in England.  I warmly congratulate them on this achievement.”

In addition VE state that to find Colton House on the shortlist in two categories is a major achievement.

The beautifully restored Georgian, Grade II* listed house has been owned by the Lawrence family since 1977 and has been run as a B&B for the last 10 years. The family originally opened with just 2 letting rooms, but due to high demand, they decided to refurbish and renovate the house over the years, giving a total of 11 luxury en-suite rooms. 

 Ron and Gay continued:
