Some time ago Ron used to work in Malawi, when Gay went out there they holidayed in the country for some time.
One of the places they visited was Mzuzu, where they discovered the best Crepes Suzette’s in the world.
However, those living in the country side are not a fortunate as others, so when this opportunity came along to be able to change people’s lives for only £63 the opportunity was grasped.
Our toilet twin has been just the start of an amazing chain reaction that’s helped people step out of poverty and into a future where they can thrive.
Spencer Khunga, a village leader in Malawi, is excited about the toilets that are springing up in his part of Rumphi District. Local people have learnt how to build proper toilets and have been shown hygiene practices such as handwashing. ‘There’s a big change,’ says Spencer. ‘There are now very few cases of sickness because people know how to look after their bodies. People used to have to go to the hospital a lot but instead they are working for the improvement of our community. Now, we have a good life.’
